How Can We Help You?

The staff of the Undergraduate Student Services office can help you learn about all the processes the Institute has created to ensure that your time at Georgia Tech is successful. The academic advisors will guide you in understanding how it all works: what your degree requirements and specialization options are and how to register for classes. If you have a question about your CEE program of study, stop by the Student Services Office in Mason 1220 to speak with an advisor.

Mandatory Academic Advising:

All civil and environmental engineering students should meet with an advisor if you have any questions or concerns about your academic progress. Advising is mandatory for incoming freshmen, graduating seniors, and students who are not in good academic standing. Mandatory advising is our way of making sure all students are in a position to be successful and stay on track for graduation.

Freshmen

All first-year civil and environmental engineering students are REQUIRED to meet with an academic advisor at least once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester. This meeting will help you P.L.A.N (Prepare, Learn, Adjust and Navigate) your road to graduation. If you fail to meet with an advisor, a HOLD will be placed on your record that semester.

Graduating Seniors

All graduating civil and environmental engineering seniors are REQUIRED to meet with an academic advisor after you submit your application for graduation. During this meeting, you will receive an unofficial audit of your records. If there are any issues that may prevent you from graduating in the semester for which you have applied, an advisor will discuss possible solutions during your appointment. If you fail to meet with an advisor, a HOLD will be placed on your record that semester.

Academic Warning/Probation

All civil and environmental engineering students who are on academic warning or probation — as defined by the Georgia Tech Registrar — are REQUIRED to meet with an academic advisor each semester until you are back in good academic standing. During this meeting you will receive tools that will assist you in improving your academic skills. We will guide you to campus resources that are available to help you improve your grades and GPA. Finally, we will calculate what semester GPA you will need to get back in good academic standing. If you fail to meet with an advisor, a HOLD will be placed on your file that semester. The Registrar's Office has more detailed information on academic standing.
