Santamarina to present Terzaghi Lecture
and students to compete at Geo-Congress

ASCE Geo-Institute's 2014 annual congress (Geo-Congress), themed "GeoCharacterization and Modeling for Sustainability", will be held February 23-26, 2014, at the Atlanta Peachtree Plaza Hotel.

Professor Carlos J. Santamarina, Ph.D., Ing., A.M.ASCE, Goizueta Foundation Faculty Chair will present the Karl Terzaghi Lecture, which has been given by an individual honored for their exemplary contributions to the field of geotechnical engineering for more than fifty years. This is the highest honor bestowed by the ASCE G-I to a geoprofessional on an annual basis. Prior Terzaghi Lecturers from GT include Professor George F. Sowers in 1979 and Dr. G. Wayne Clough in 1994. 

Additionally, our School will offer technical tours of the newly renovated Mason Building geotechnical laboratories and the nearby Clough Center (February 26, 4-8 pm). CEEatGT undergraduate and geosystems graduate students will also participate in the “GeoChallenge!” competition involving construction of a reinforced earth wall...
