The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites outstanding applicants to add to our existing strengths in information intensive transportation engineering. We seek candidates in the broad area of data intensive multi-modal transportation system analysis and performance, with specific interests in the application of information technologies and autonomy to mobility and operations. A joint appointment between civil engineering and computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or industrial and systems engineering is possible. The ideal candidate will complement and bring synergy to existing strengths and the ongoing research of transportation-related faculty at Georgia Tech. This Chair position will stimulate major innovation initiatives in advancing multi-modal urban transportation systems, including both human-driven and automated vehicles, to facilitate system performance and efficiency in light of resiliency and sustainability motivators such as congestion reduction, climate change, air quality, energy conservation, noise minimization, public health and social equity. Preference will be given to those candidates who have demonstrated success in collaborating with communication, information or transportation industry partners to translate research developments into practical implemented solutions. 

Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in civil engineering or a related field that supports the vision for the Dickerson Chair position. Candidates should ideally be established researchers with strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills and have significant experience in academia and/or industry. The appointed individual will be expected to contribute to the innovation, research and teaching missions of the School and Institute. The position is located at the Georgia Tech main campus in Atlanta.
