Cesunica Ivey’s paper outlining a new way to estimate the amount and source of air pollution has been named one of the two best articles published in 2016 in the journal Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering.
Professor Glaucio Paulino is one of three new fellows of the American Society of Civil Engineering’s Engineering Mechanics Institute. Paulino will accept the honor June 6 at the institute’s national conference.
Ph.D. student Heng Chi has accomplished something no other Georgia Tech student has: winning the prestigious Robert J. Melosh Medal Competition. Chi was one of two winners this year.

Environmental engineering senior Hannah Greenwald has earned the highest honor from the Georgia Tech College of Engineering, the Davidson Family Tau Beta Pi Senior Engineering Cup. The award recognizes academic excellence, leadership and service, and it goes to only one graduating senior each year.
Georgia Tech’s scientific and engineering honor society has recognized Despina Tsementzi’s doctoral dissertation as one of the best of the year. Tsementzi, who finished her Ph.D. in the fall, has won the Sigma Xi Best Ph.D. Dissertation award for 2017. She’s one of only 10 students across campus to earn the distinction.
Junior Arjun Bir’s work to improve lives in his native India and in the developing world has earned him the 2017 Alvin M. Ferst Leadership and Entrepreneur Award from Georgia Tech.
Professor Emeritus Bruce Ellingwood will receive a lifetime achievement award in March from the American Society of Civil Engineers for his contributions to engineering education.
