A dream fulfilled: Dennard got in and got out

Sam Dennard was determined to attend Georgia Tech. The Suwanee, Georgia, resident started his secondary education while at Lambert High School as a dual enrollee at Gainesville State College (now the University of North Georgia). He thought transferring into Tech would go smoothly. It didn't.

Georgia-grown grads: Sanders celebrates two graduations, two degrees

After graduating from Georgia Tech, Austin Sanders will graduate again one week later. He is part of the dual-degree program between Georgia Tech and Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia, and he'll finish with honors from both universities.

Sharani White still remembers every detail about the conversation with her parents after her first year at Georgia Tech. She had returned home to Gonzales, Louisiana, and had to tell them a difficult truth: She was struggling.

The first of three Commencement ceremonies this weekend was a special celebration Friday morning for students completing their doctorates. Faculty members presented their graduating Ph.D. students with their doctoral hood, a traditional part of the academic regalia.
