Students say 4 of the top teachers at Tech are civil and environmental engineering professors

Glaucio Paulino, Adjo Amekudzi-Kennedy, Susan Burns and Donald Webster have been named four of the most-effective teachers at Georgia Tech, according to end-of-course surveys of their students.

Four professors in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering are some of Georgia Tech’s most-effective teachers, according to, perhaps, their most important constituents: the students who sit in their classes.

Burns honored as one of Tech’s most effective teachers

For the second time in three years, students have rated Susan Burns one of the best teachers at Georgia Tech. As a result, Burns will receive the Class of 1940 Course Survey Teaching Effectiveness Award.

Faculty members earn Institute-wide recognition for teaching excellence, interdisciplinary research, technology use

Georgia Tech’s Faculty Honors Committee has recognized three professors in the School of Civil and Environmental for their impact on students and their interdisciplinary work. The intensely competitive awards went to Lawrence Kahn for his teaching, Ted Russell for his interdisciplinary activities, and Donald Webster for his use of technology to “flip” his Fluid Mechanics and Dynamics course.
