ARCS awards go to 4 grad students

Calvin Clark, Xenia Wirth, Osvaldo Broesicke and Anna Skipper, who have each earned a scholarship from the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation for 2017.

Osvaldo Broesicke, Calvin Clark, Anna Skipper and Xenia Wirth have each earned more funding from the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists Foundation to support their studies and open up opportunities to advance their research.

New CEE Future Faculty program selects first three fellows

Ph.D. students Courtney Di Vittorio, Laura Mast and Xenia Wirth, the School's first Future Faculty Fellows.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering has picked three Ph.D. students for a new program focused on helping graduate students become great teachers. Courtney Di Vittorio, Laura Mast and Xenia Wirth each will receive $3,000 to help them develop their teaching skills and explore academic career opportunities.

Record five civil and environmental grad students receive ARCS awards

Two returning scholars are among the five School of Civil and Environmental Engineering graduate students who have won funding this year from the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists program. The number of winners in the School is the most in recent memory and almost certainly a record for civil and environmental engineering students.

Rethinking what (and how) we teach geotechnical engineers

An international group of geotechnical scholars is working to reimagine how they teach soil mechanics, hoping to close a gap between what students learn and what they actually need to know to work in the field or pursue a research career. The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering’s Chloe Arson is helping lead the endeavor.
