Biography

Dr. Shane Snyder is the José Domingo Pérez Foundation Chair and Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), USA.  His research has focuses on water quality, treatment, and sustainability, which resulted in over 300 published manuscripts with over 37,000 citations.  Professor Snyder was featured among the top 25 leading water researchers globally by Lux Research and was featured as one of the top scientists in the field of Environmental Engineering (#55 out of 42,482) in a report by Stanford University. He is the Editor-in-Chief for the American Chemical Society journal, Environmental Science & Technology Water and was previously an Editor-in-Chief of Elsevier’s Chemosphere. Snyder is a Fellow of the International Water Association and a Board-Certified Environmental Scientist (BCES) by Eminence from the American Academy of Engineers and Scientists. Snyder has been an advisor on water sustainability for numerous agencies and institutes around the world, including the US Environmental Protection Agency and the World Health Organization. He was awarded the Dr. Pankaj Parekh Research Innovation Award from the Water Research Foundation, the Agilent Thought Leader Award, and the Nanyang Humanitarian Award, among others.  In 2021, Snyder was awarded the Clarke Prize, broadly considered as one of the most prestigious awards for outstanding achievements in water science and technology.
