Todd Long joined Atlas Technical Consultants in 2018 and is the South Atlantic Division Lead, covering Georgia, the Carolinas, and Florida. He has 35 years of experience in government services with focused experience in planning, engineering, construction management, operations, and administration for large governmental organizations. He has served in leadership roles for much of his career. Before joining Atlas, Long served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Fulton County from 2015 to 2018. He led the day-to-day activities of 14 departments in the County, including Transportation, where he oversaw all aspects of roadway planning, transit planning, traffic engineering, roadway design, maintenance, and funding for unincorporated Fulton County at the time. Before joining Fulton County, Todd had a long career with GDOT, where he served in several high-level roles—including Deputy Commissioner, Director of Planning, Director of Preconstruction, Director of Administration, and District Engineer—until his retirement in 2015. Todd also served as the Chief Engineer for the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority from 2008-2009.
Todd Long's research interests include traffic calming, transportation funding, transportation program management, and BRT and express lanes.

Todd Long currently teaches Transportation Policy and Administration (CEE 6605). He has taught this class for 8 years and seen nearly 150 students come through the class. This course introduces the student to critical institutional and administrative concepts in transportation. Students leave the class with practical knowledge that the normal academic curriculum will not provide. The theme of the course is to prepare the student for a productive career in transportation that ultimately will be more than simple engineering and data analysis. Understanding organizational structure and predicting policy outcomes in the transportation sector will give students a huge advantage in their career.
