The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering will be well represented at this weekend’s commencement ceremonies — and not just among those receiving their degrees.
Two of the three commencement speakers are civil engineering alumni: G. Wayne Clough and Gen. Philip Breedlove.
Clough, who will deliver remarks at Friday evening’s master’s and Ph.D. ceremony, earned his bachelor’s and master’s from the School in 1964 and 1965, respectively. He returned some 30 years later to serve as Georgia Tech president. He retired as secretary of the Smithsonian at the end of last year.
Breedlove has spent his career in the U.S. Air Force since he graduated with a bachelor’s in civil engineering in 1977. Now Supreme Allied Commander of NATO forces in Europe, he will speak at the Saturday afternoon undergraduate ceremony.
