PhD student Connor Szeto awarded American Concrete Institute scholarship

The Georgia Chapter of the American Concrete Institute has selected PhD student Connor Szeto to receive the $5,000 Robert H. Kuhlman Student Scholarship.

Szeto completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Georgia Tech in civil engineering. During his time as a student, Szeto led the the Concrete Canoe team for two years and held multiple internships. Szeto's research is focused on concrete and cement performance. He is advised by Professor Kimberly Kurtis, the Raymond Allen Jones Chair and Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Scholarship in the College of Engineering. Kurtis said Szeto is "truly an outstanding student, researcher and team member.”

Szeto hopes to continue his work in concrete and structural design by finding innovative solutions that can reduce the environmental impact of concrete production. Szeto’s goal is to make a positive change on the construction industry by promoting more sustainable practices and materials.
