The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering would like to congratulate the following CEE students recognized for outstanding achievement at the 2011 Georgia Tech Student Honors Program:
Dr. Augustine O. Esogbue GTSBE Founding Advisor Excellence Award - this award was established in 1981 by Professor Augustine O. Esogbue, the founding faculty adviser for the Georgia Tech chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, to celebrate excellence among the members of the Society in the presence of their Georgia Tech peers. it is presented to an NSBE student who is adjudged, by dint of outstanding scholarship and leadership qualities, to have best typified the mission of NSBE and has exhibited excellence comparable to the best of Georgia Tech tradition. The award consists of a plaque and $500 and is presented by Dr. Esogbue.

School Chair's Outstanding Senior Award in Civil and Environmental Engineering - an award of $1,000 and a plaque is given to the senior in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) who exhibits high academic performance, strong citizenship qualities, and demonstrated leadership with a special emphasis on community service. The award is presented by Donald R. Webster, associate chair of CEE.

Helen E. Grenga Outstanding Woman Engineer Award - this award, created in honor of the late Helen Grenga, the first woman faculty member in the College of Engineering, celebrates the accomplishment of women in engineering. It is presented annually to a woman engineering student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service in her field and in the Tech community. The award, consisting of $1,000 and a plaque, will be presented by Laurence J. Jacobs, associate dean, College of Engineering.

Heather Leigh Hill, Civil and Environmental Engineering
Georgia Tech Faculty Women's Club Scholarships - these awards are granted to Georgia Tech students who are sons or daughters of Georgia Tech employees. The students must be undergraduates, already enrolled, and in good standing. The five $1,000 awards are based on academic achievement and financial need.

George Wingfield Semmes Memorial Scholarship - the George Wingfield Semmes Memorial Scholarships of $10,000 (winner) and $2,000 (runners-up) are given to undergraduate engineering students who demonstrate academic achievement, outstanding leadership qualities, a strong character, and a true love for Georgia Tech.

James G. and Mary G. Wohlford Scholarships - named in honor of the late director emeritus of the Division of Professional Practice and sponsored by the Co-op Club, these scholarships recognize outstanding senior co-ops who have excelled both academically and on their co-op jobs, and who have made significant contributions to the community. The award is a scholarship ranging from $500 to $2,500 and a framed certificate.

Outstanding Sophomore Award in Civil and Environmental Engineering - this award is given annually to a sophomore Civil Engineering major, and was established to honor the student who has achieved the highest academic performance. The award consists of $500 and a plaque.

Buck Stith Outstanding Junior Award in Civil and Environmental Engineering - this endowed award, established by Buck Stith of Stith Equipment, recognizes a junior in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering who has demonstrated both strong academic potential and a concern for the development of the School and the profession. The award consists of $500 and a plaque.

Henry Ford II Scholar Awards - these awards, consisting cash provided through income from a restricted endowment fund grant provided by the Ford Motor Company Fund, are made annually to the engineering students with the best academic records at the end of the third year of undergraduate study.
