Every year, Georgia Tech's Center for Enhanced Teaching and Learning (CETL) invites a small, multidisciplinary group of associate professors to become Hesburgh Award Teaching Fellows. These faculty members are nominated for this honor by their college and meet throughout spring semester to discuss innovative ways to improve student learning and to strengthen teaching on the Georgia Tech campus. Teaching Fellows receive a small stipend ($1000) to implement a project to improve student learning in a course during the following summer or fall semester. On January 17, 2012, the CETL program named the following assocaite professors as the 2012 Hesburgh Teaching Fellows:
- Adjo Amekudzi (CEE)
- Frank Dellaert (COC)
- Nick Feamster (COC)
- Mike Goodisman (Biology)
- Narin Hassan (LCC)
- Koert Van Ittersum (COM)
- Deirdre Shoemaker (Physics)
- Donggang Yao (MSE)
- Alasdair Young (INTA)
Dr. Amekudzi earned her PhD in civil and environmental engineering from Carnegie Mellon University where she also earned a MS in civil infrastructure systems. She also holds an MS in civil engineering from Florida International University and a BS in civil engineering from Stanford University.
