Biography

Dr. Ng is a Professor in the School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering. Dr. Ng also holds a joint appointment in the School of Earth & Atmospheric Sciences and a courtesy appointment in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering. Prior to coming to Georgia Tech, she worked at Aerodyne Research Inc. in the Center for Aerosol and Cloud Chemistry. Dr. Ng's research focuses on the fundamental understanding of the underlying chemical mechanisms of aerosol formation and composition, as well as the health effects of aerosols.  Her group uses a synergistic approach in studying aerosols by performing both laboratory chamber experiments and ambient field measurements using advanced mass spectrometry techniques. Dr. Ng serves as a co-editor of Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics. Dr. Ng is a member of the Editorial Board of Scientific Reports, Journal of Aerosol Science, and ACS Earth and Space Chemistry. Dr. Ng serves as Chair of Environmental Division for the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) in 2020, and served as the 2019 Conference Chair for the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR).

Research

Aerosol chemistry, The formation and evolution of atmospheric nanoparticles (aerosols), Chemistry and life cycles (sources, processes, and fates) of ambient aerosols, Development and characterization of advanced aerosol instrumentation, Aerosol health effects, intracellular reactive oxygen and nitrogen species production from particulate matter exposure
