Dr. Eric Marks is a Professor of Practice in the Construction and Infrastructure Systems group in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Kentucky. During his time as a practicing civil engineer, Dr. Marks managed capital-intensive transportation infrastructure construction projects for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. He previously was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at the University of Alabama. Dr. Marks was also a Research Scientist at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He received his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in May of 2014. Dr. Marks earned a BSCE in 2006 and MSCE in 2007 from the University of Kentucky.
In the past, Dr. Marks has completed research focused on proactive construction safety approaches. This includes advancements in BIM for safety, automated sensing, and safety innovation.

Dr. Marks teaches courses in Construction and Civil Engineering at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He implements diverse presentation strategies, including real-life applications of discussed theories and interactive student scenarios in simulated design projects.
